Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Juno Temple Might Star in “The Dark Knight Rises”

According to outside sources, Joseph Gordon-Levitt has signed on to portray Alberto Falcone (a.k.a. the Holiday Killer) in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises. However, Dave Karger at Entertainment Weekly is hearing from “a source close to the situation” that Gordon-Levitt will be playing someone other than Falcone. In addition to this possible casting update, Variety relays that Nolan is seeking Juno Temple to play “a street-smart Gotham girl.”

David Fincher Might Direct “Cleopatra”


Angelina Jolie looks to lead Sony Pictures’ Cleopatra, the biopic focusing on the legendary Egyptian politician, but she obviously can’t get there without a director on board. Now it looks like Sony is seeking David Fincher to fill the seat.. It’s not surprising that Sony wants Fincher; he directed the sleeper hit and Oscar winner The Social Network for the studio just last year. Deadline Hollywood points out that this would be Jolie’s “first film with Fincher.”

Live-Action “Akira” Casting Rumors


After a bit of a dilemma involving casting offers to Brad Pitt and Mila Kunis, the adaptation of the classic graphic novel Akirais finally moving ahead. The most crucial casting, of course, would be that of the two leads Kaneda and Tetsuo. Actors on the shortlist for Kaneda include Michael Fassbender, Garrett Hedlund, Chris Pine, Joaquin Phoenix, and Justin Timberlake, whereas Andrew Garfield, Robert Pattinson, and James McAvoy are reportedly on the Tetsuo shortlist. Deadline Hollywood suspects that filming will begin in August.

Limitless Breaks Through Boundaries at Box Office

Limitless didn’t live up to the hype of its name, but it still took number one at the box office. Bradley Cooper’s starring effort as a bum writer who takes a wonder drug that allows him to access 100% of his brain was most acceptable to the masses grossing $19 million in its debut weekend. Other new releases plunked down at fourth and fifth including The Lincoln Lawyer, a courtroom thriller, and Paul a halfwit comedy. This weekend pales in comparison to 2010, when Alice in Wonderland still had its highly stylized claws sunk into domestic piggy banks.

Dead Derrick Discusses: Horrifying Beginnings and His Horror Top 5


One could suspect that I love and care for the classics such as The Exorcist, Hellraiser, Evil Dead, Silence Of The Lambs, Poltergeist, The Shining, Halloween, The Thing, etc. However, as fantastic, excellent, and perfect as these classic fright flicks may be, they are not my top five favorite horror films. They would definitely rank in my top 13 or 25, but not my top five.
