“Bourne Legacy” Narrows Down Its Lead List

The Bourne Legacy has fast become the hottest male lead role in Hollywood these days. In the past months, it seemed that everyonewith a screen credit was up for the part, but Deadline has it that the field is narrowing between what can safely be called an eclectic mix of up and coming actors in Hollywood.

Sports Movie Madness: Soccer (Football) Movies – Round 2

The first round of this section of Sport Movie Madness has produced two clear front runners: Bend It Like Beckham andThe Damned United both easily beating their competition. The Football Factory had a narrow victory, beating Shaolin Soccer 5 – 4. It good to see the better hooligan film (despite being less known in North America) going through over the more popular film, Green Street Hooligans. And Victory was able secure a comfortable win, fitting for its title.

Sucker Punch Review

Inception gave us a dream within a dream; Sucker Punch is a fantasy within a fantasy. Zack Snyder has created another visual stunner, but it won’t be hailed in years to come as among the best of his filmography. The tagline for Sucker Punch is “You will be unprepared.” You’re darn right! The story waxes so thin it could be a New York Style pizza; the characters are given no depth and are treated as expendable. The dialogue and deliveries are as hokey as a Nickelodeon show and all this from the director of one of my favorite action films, 300. Sucker Punch is entertaining, but the narrative is poorly conceived and the execution is basically thrown in the fire by the third act. It’s weak.

Although this is the first original work of his filmography, it has splices of other movies you may recognize. The first obvious connection is any other movie by Zack Snyder. Here’s the rest. If we’re missing an ingredient, let us know.

Sports Movie Madness: Boxing Movies – Round 2

Another week, another round of the most exciting movie contest on the web! Boxing movies: we got `em, you rank `em. It’s the next best thing to being punched in the head yourself. Ding Ding, onto Round 2.

Just like if Mike Tyson went head to head against Betty White, there were no upsets in round one. Despite Cinderella Man taking an early 3-1 lead in votes, Rocky handily won in the end and The Fighter, though a new contender to the genre, continued to dance on its praise and awards success defeating Denzel Washington and his pseudo-boxing flick The Hurricane.
