Most Surprising and Disappointing Films of 2011 So Far

As fun as we at PAM had with our top five movies of 2011
at the mid-way point, it’s typically not the best time to begin
assessing the year; most of the good stuff comes out July through
December. It’s a good time, however, for discussing what we thought we’d
like that didn’t work out and what we didn’t think we’d care for that
went above expectations.
Combining
past success, early buzz, user ratings, what we at PAM thought, word of
mouth and box-office receipts, this was not a tough list to put
together. My early findings were this: March was a hotbed of activity in
this area this year. Looking at March 2012 and 2013, March is shaping
up to truly be a buzz-worthy month with films that have big hopes yet
not enough confidence to go up against the titans of summer.

Paramount Announces Animation Division



Paramount’s relationship with DreamWorks Animation officially ends at the end of 2012, but the studio is prepared for what lies beyond as Paramount Animation will release one new feature each year beginning in 2014. Considering the studio possesses the rights to all Nickelodeon-owned properties, a sequel to Rango – if such a sequel does happen – would happen through Paramount Animation.

pleasure this week, including our recommendation for the week, the
Director’s Cut of German submarine film Das Boot. An excellent film for anyone interested in naval warfare and World War II. Also out this week isTakashi Miike’s samurai film 13 Assassins, for art-house fans there are films from France and Sweden, and there is plenty of B-Movie schlock for your enjoyment.
