DVD/Blu-ray DISCussion (New for 7.12.11)

It
was tough to pick out a Recommendation of the Week because there were
two very worthy candidates this week. I have decided you horror fans
needed a little love and recommended Insidious, the supernatural horror by James Wan. The other candidate was the animated film Rango.
Also out this week are a number of new releases, mostly dramas, and
both re-releases are from my home nation Great Britain (best country
ever).

‘The Dark Knight Rises’ Teaser Poster Debuts!

It’s no secret that the Internet has been buzzing over
SuperHeroHype’s source, stating that the first teaser for Christopher
Nolan’s third and final entry in the “Batman” film franchise will make
it’s debut this week in front of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2.
It was also reported that the first teaser poster would debut alongside
the teaser at the end of the week, but it appears Warner Bros are hype
to gets us salivating earlier than Friday.

Spike Lee Will Direct Remake of ‘Oldboy’

Well,
it’s happening now. There have been a number of rumors over the last
few years that an American remake of the 2003 film was in the works, but
they had only been rumors. Now Mandate Pictures has released the
following press release, confirming that not only is the Oldboy remake happening, Spike Lee (Inside Man, Malcom X) has been brought on to helm the picture. Scratch your heads while reading the following press release.

Arnold Schwarzenegger to Take ‘The Last Stand’ with Director Kim-ji-Woon


After stepping out of the California governorship, actor-turned-politician Arnold Schwarzenegger sought to make a comeback in the former occupation, which would have included a dramatic turn in the film Cry Macho. However, personal difficulties led to an obvious halt in such acting comeback plans. Not for long though, as it seems that Arnie is looking to get back in the game once again.
