As the Holiday 2012 schedule has begun to take shape and even Summer 2013 over the last few months, it was time to make a decision. Although Man of Steel will be silent at Comic-Con this year, The Playlist has just learned that the new release date is June 14, 2013.

One recent trend in action movies—one that we’ll be seeing in full force this weekend with the release of Captain America: The First Avenger—is to transport the viewer to a different time and place. Period action films are all the rage, and in the last ten years or so, no major historical event has gone unrepresented in the genre. Here are some of our favorites:
Day 1 in the place where dreams come true — Hall H at Comic-Con — seems bland at first glance this year, but some definite surprises could be awaiting us. There are staples, such as an appearance from the cast of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1, as well as the presence of Guillermo Del Toro.
Despite its shortcomings, the 1981 flick Escape from New York remains a staple of the action genre to this day, thanks to its no-nonsense attitude and Kurt Russell’s iconic performance as Snake Plissken. Of course, anything iconic is bound to get a remake, and that was no different with this film, as New Line Cinema and Warner Bros. agreed to take on a reboot with Breck Eisner (The Crazies, Sahara) at the helm. However, that won’t be the case anymore.

self-proclaimed geeks of all kinds call home is a major venue for movie studios
to unveil big news, debut trailers and drop hint after hint regarding the
largest upcoming projects. After taking a gander at the line-up for this year’s
