The Sony/Columbia Pictures panel in Hall H was one of the most highly anticipated at Comic-Con this year, opening with Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance. Stars Nicolas Cage, Idris Elba and Johnny Whitworth took the stage alongside directors Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor. Behind the scenes footage was shown, and fans (assuming they exist) were assured that real bones, not CGI, will be broken on film.
Relativity Media brought out two of its more adult-orientated movies to Hall H this year, the action revenge thriller Haywire and period thriller The Raven.
Breaking what? Underworld? Vampires are meant to get a little bloody and director Craig Gillespie aims to please with his remake of the 1985 cult film Fright Night. DreamWorks has unveiled the Comic-Con panel, including stars Colin Farrell, Anton Yelchin, Imogen Poots and Christopher Mintz-Plasse.
Things got a little funnier in Hall H, as Zombieland director Reuben Fleischer took the stage along with stars Aziz Asnari, Michael Pena and Nick Swardson to discuss the upcoming dark caper comedy 30 Minutes or Less.
Captain America: The First Avenger, the final Marvel origin story before The Avengers next May, is a blast from start to finish. Chris Evans equips himself well as the “star-spangled man with a plan,” and Joe Johnston proves himself more than capable of delivering when it comes to solid superhero action.
Starting events this Friday at Comic-Con was The Adventure of Tintin Panel, the adaptation of popular Belgian comic book series and one of the highly anticipated movies of this holiday season. Leading this panel was director Steven Spielberg and producer Peter Jackson, on a break from filming The Hobbit.
It might not have a finished script or a director, but Legendary Pictures must be dedicated to making a film based on the hit game Mass Effect if they’re prepared to talk about it at Comic-Con. Game creator Casey Hudson of BioWare and screenwriter Mark Protosevich (Thor) came on stage to discuss their plans for bringing the game to the big screen.
