You’ve heard the saying “Dying is easy, but comedy is hard.” While that might bear some truth, it’s not always easy for a comedian – or an actor known for comedy – to transition into “serious” dramatic acting. In fact, it’s hardly ever met without extreme skepticism from movie-lovers.
Our Recommendation of the Week is the independent superhero movie Super. James Gunn gives us the tale of a everyday man becoming a superhero, mixing comedy and extreme violence in a movie that reminds us of Kick-Ass, yet is entirely different in many ways.
In less than two weeks, a remake of the 1982 action flick Conan the Barbarian will hit theaters across the nation. Its lead actor Jason Momoa, who’s taking on the iconic role occupied by Arnold Schwarzenegger in the original, recently revealed something interesting about a potential “Conan” sequel.
Hot off the successful debut of Rise of the Planet of the Apes, director Rupert Wyatt sounds keen on continuing the revamped “Apes” storyline: one that has jumped his career forward 50 points in a single weekend. Recently, he and VFX supervisor Dan Lemmon met with Bleeding Cool and discussed ideas for a future installment. I can’t say I warned you about spoilers, because you should already know how “Apes” ends.
It’s about time apes got some respect around Hollywood. These smarter-than-the-average mammals now rule the box office and soon the planet. Rise of the Planet of the Apes opened above expectations with $54 million.
We
have seen many American cities being invaded by aliens over the years –
New York, Los Angeles, Washington D.C., Chicago and so many more. Now
with the release of Attack the Block, which is being expanded,
aliens are now shown attacking the tower block of South London. For
those who do not know much about South London, it is an area which is
notorious for gang violence, high levels of crime and social deprivation
(with some of the worst architecture you will ever see). But there are
plenty of other places which would be ill-advised for aliens to try and
attack.
One would think the Pittsburgh Steelers would be busy gearing up to make a second straight run at the Super Bowl. However, today they’re set to shoot a scene at Heinz Field for Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises.
