The Words Review
The Words moves at a glacial pace. It’s overwritten and the stately score and incredibly formal look make the entire exercise feel almost inhuman. Basically, the film needed to be more dynamic, even a bit messier.

Though comparisons to Bridesmaids are inevitable, Leslye Headland’s Bachelorette is much darker and, ultimately, funnier than 2011’s breakout comedy hit. Its characters are incredibly dislikable, and its script is full of mean-spirited surprises, but it has guts and definitely will make you laugh.
The Cold Light of Day is a hamstrung, nearly farcical wannabe-thriller that proceeds to insult its viewers with tepid action, leaps in logic and at more than one instance plot developments that border on incomprehensible.
The aquatic penis munching and poor character choices continue in Piranha 3DD, the even goofier follow-up to Alexandre Aja’s surprisingly entertaining 2010 remake, the former of which has just been made available on DVD and Blu-ray.
John Hillcoat’s Lawless takes place in Franklin County, Va. during the early 1930s, an area of the country where the finest of lines separates cop from criminal, principled hero from animalistic villain. But while the characters’ morals are constantly changing, one thing is certain: Lawless is a bloody good time at the movies (emphasis on bloody).
Jo Nesbø is a respected crime novelist in his native Norway and his books are international best sellers. His stand-alone novel Headhunters has been given a cinematic treatment that has just arrived on DVD and Blu-ray. A Hollywood remake is already in the works.
The film hits a speed bump almost every time it stops for exposition, but thankfully, those instances are few and far between, and throughout the rest of its scant 90-minute run time, Premium Rush is an energetic thrill ride with lively direction and very charismatic performances.
You need to create a sense of atmosphere, thrills and/or terror if you want any chance of sustaining business for more than three weeks at the box office. In this instance, don’t expect The Apparition to fare well as it provides none of the above — at all.
Fast cars and comedy have never really gone hand in hand. Movies such as the Fast and Furious franchise have always been about the cars, with the jokes mostly sticking to characters digging at each other and one-liners. Hit and Run, on the other hand, is all about the humor — with just a side of car porn.
Back in 2010, fans of action cinema were salivating over the prospect of some of the greatest action heroes of ’80s and ’90s coming together for the first time in The Expendables, but it took itself too seriously to win approval from the vast majority. The filmmakers listened to this criticism in putting together The Expendables 2 and director Simon West injects a big dose of self-aware humor that the series needed.
