While Comic-Con has been knocking out high-profile announcements left and right from the likes of Marvel and Warner Bros, Open Road Films, along with director Michael J. Bassett and star Adelaide Clemens, quietly made an impression by peeling back the layers of their upcoming Silent Hill: Revelation 3D, the sequel to the 2006 film.
Following the success of The Avengers, Marvel is set to kick of “Phase Two” of its movies, which includes Iron Man 3, sequels to Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger, and the now-official Guardians of the Galaxy. Edgar Wright’s Ant-Man made a surprise appearance as well.
Joined on stage by fellow cast member Don Cheadle (Lt. Col. James Rhodes), director Shane Black, Iron Man and Iron Man 2 director Jon Favreau, and Marvel President Kevin Feige, Iron Man and The Avengers star Robert Downey, Jr. showed a Hall H audience the first bit of footage from Iron Man 3.
It has truly been an unexpected journey for the adaptation of The Hobbit, with directors falling out and financing in question, all to have “Lord of the Rings” director Peter Jackson return after all. Part one J.R.R. Tolkien’s classic novel, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, has made its way to Comic-Con with some exciting news and footage in tow.
It’s a bird … it’s a plane … it’s Comic-Con! Hall H is atwitter right now thanks to the Warner Bros. panel, which brought news on the upcoming Superman reboot Man of Steel directed by Zack Snyder and starring Henry Cavill.
Guillermo del Toro is by far one of our finest directors, and the man is certainly no stranger to San Diego’s Comic-Con, having made multiple appearances over the years. This time, del Toro has brought us juicy tidbits regarding his upcoming sci-fi actioner Pacific Rim, which is looking more and more certain to wow us.
The panel for Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained in Hall H kick-started the final day of Comic-Con 2012. Joining the celebrated director for the panel were his stars Jamie Foxx, Christoph Waltz, Kerry Washington, Walter Goggins and Don Johnson.
District 9 creator Neill Blomkamp finally has another film for us called Elysium, and while all we’ve gotten so far is a synopsis and a still of a head-shaved Matt Damon with some gun rigged to his arm, the film’s Hall H panel at Comic-Con made some serious waves despite the film being in the early stages of post-production.
Slowly but surely, Looper is becoming the film everyone’s got their eye on this fall. Sony presented the film at its showing at Comic-Con this year and from the way filmmaker Rian Johnson and the cast talked about it, this is not a film you’ll want to miss.
