Samuel L. Jackson, whose yapper is rather infamous in the world of movie news, told a radio show recently that at some point after The Avengers, Nick Fury and S.H.I.E.L.D will get a movie all of their own. After all, you know SLJ wouldn’t agree to do any major film if his character weren’t guaranteed 100 percent awesomeness or at least a glorified death (such as in Star Wars).

As was expected, the hotly anticipated superhero sequel Iron Man 2 led the box office with the fifth highest opening weekend of all time, grossing three times more than the rest of the top ten combined.
Iron Man 2 flew off to $128.1 million, including Thursday night showings, for a red-hot per theatre average of $29,252. This opening weekend tally is significantly less than the $133 million that was originally predicted, signalling that fans may have rushed out all at once for the premier. Many predicted that the $158 million opening weekend record held by another superhero movie, The Dark Knight, may be broken but it appears the buzz, incredible reviews and the tragic death of Heath Ledger still remain an unbeatable combination for the “Batman” pic.
Twentieth Century Fox isn’t monkeying around. June 24, 2011 will see a reboot/prequel to the long-running “Planet of the Apes” franchise to be directed by Rupert Wyatt.
Tentatively titled “Rise of the Apes”, the film will be set in modern-day San Francisco where genetic experiments give rise to super-intelligent apes leading to a war against humans.
Just when you thought the late ’90s and early ’00s were dead or locked away forever, Sony/Columbia makes an announcement that those rumors you heard aboutMen in Black III in 3-D were in fact true. The studio sent out a press release Friday that the third alien-blasting black-tie affair is underway for a Memorial Day 2012 release with original director Barry Sonnenfeld and stars Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones (Jones is in “advanced negotiations”) returning.
Critically acclaimed actor Toby Jones takes on a villainous comic book role in Captain America: The First Avenger. Jones is perhaps best known for his role as Truman Capote in the film Infamous and his voice work in various Harry Potter films as Dobby the House Elf.
