First Images: Paul W.S. Anderson’s “Three Musketeers”

ComingSoon.net, has the first photos from the set of Paul W.S. Anderson’s upcoming 3-D take on The Three Musketeers. They include shots of Percy Jackson star Logan Lerman as D’Artagnan, Prague actor Mads Mikkelsen as Rochefort, and Anderson. It’s not likely that this film will be a masterpiece or even as good as the Disney-produced adaptation from 1993, but we can hope for a fun time at the movies.

Rich Wilkes to pen “Iron Fist” for Marvel

Screenwriter Rich Wilkes has been hired to pen a script for Marvel Studios’ based on the character Iron Fist. Originating in the ’70s during the heigh of kung fu culture, the story follows a martial artist whose fists become impenetrable weapons after battling a dragon. The comic was created by Gil Kane and Roy Thomas.

Sly Stallone and “Expendables” satisfy a second week

Five lightweight newcomers fought their hardest but could not knock out the champ, Rocky Balboa originator Sylvester Stallone. The Expendables maintained a bruised grip on the box office, leading the pack with $16.9 million. Vampires Suck, a travesty created by spoof writers Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer, tasted the number two spot with $12.2 million. The macabre mockery opened Wednesday leading to an overall five day haul of $18.5 million.

Daldry to direct “Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close”

Stephen Daldry is currently negotiating with Paramount and Warner Bros. to helm a film based on Jonathan Safran Foer’s Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close: A Novel. According to indieWIRE, Daldry will be directing Academy Award winners Sandra Bullock and Tom Hanks. Scott Rudin is set for production duties, and Eric Roth (Forest Gump, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button) wrote the film’s screenplay.
