Looks like David O. Russell has neared a deal for his The Fighter star Mark Wahlberg (The Departed, The Italian Job) to take the lead as fortune hunter Nathan Drake. Although he’s not under contract just yet, a contract likely to span a potential sequel in the form of “Among Thieves,” Wahlberg (talking to MTV) has broken his silence regarding his involvement in the project.
Atlas Entertainment (by way of Charles Roven, executive producer of Batman Begins) and Warner Bros. have announced that the “Buffy” reboot is officially on and yes, Joss Whedon is still not involved. No word on who is directing the film, but Whit Anderson (who?) will be writing the script for what is being described as an “updated” Buffy.

Also available for your enjoyment are two documentaries, a thriller, a comedy and a fantasy adventure. For Tyler Perry fans you will be happy, four of his films are getting a re-release; if you don’t like him look away now. A classic Disney has also earned a re-release.
Not too long ago we mentioned that Mark Wahlberg would star in a remake of The Crow. Lucky for us who were skeptical, it’s all just a myth. The Academy Award nominee sets the record straight, telling Cinematical that he was never officially on board to star in the remake:
Matthew Goode might nab the highly coveted role of Clark Kent in Zack Snyder’s Superman reboot Superman: Man of Steel. That’s the rumor flying all across the blogosphere courtesy of Movienewz. Apparently, Snyder has Goode down as his first choice and has plans to extensively use CGI for the Superman aspect of the role.
2010 has been an active year for Steven Spielberg’s long in development Lincoln project. Liam Neeson had long since been attached to play the lead and earlier in the year, Sally Field had been announced as playing Lincoln’s wife, Marry Todd Lincoln. However, news broke over the summer that Neeson, having grown tired of the project’s long stay in developmental hell, had left the project, leaving Spielberg without his (perfectly cast) Lincoln.
It is no surprise Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 was a smash hit at the weekend box office. Beginning with midnight shows across the country, the seventh installment of the long running series garnered $125 million in ticket sales. Approximately $24 million came from the midnights alone; a record for the franchise. The Next Three Days was dead on arrival. It managed fifth place with $9.6 million.
Here is a first look at Karl Urban as Judge Dredd in Pete Travis’ adaptation of the Judge Dredd comic series. Based on the photo obtained from 2000adOnline.com, Moviefone surmises that this film won’t feature “the cartoonish, overly plastic” quality that kept audiences away from the 1995 comic adaptation, which was also named Judge Dredd.
Producer Christopher Nolan and director Zack Snyder are searching for the actor who will play Clark Kent in the upcoming film Superman: Man of Steel. Snyder is tweaking the script with David S. Goyer, who conceived the story with Nolan.
Denis Leary is set to play a role in Marc Webb’s upcoming Spider-Man reboot. The Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision Blog states that he will play George Stacy, father of love interest Gwen Stacy who in the comics ran into Peter Parker’s alter ego on a regular basis as a police officer.
