Anthony Mackie and Dominic Cooper join “Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter”

Timur Bekmambetov’s (Wanted) upcoming Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, adapted from Seth Grahme-Smith’s novel of the same name, is shaping up to be a showcase for a number of no-name up-and-comers in Hollywood today. With the title role going to Benjamin Walker (Kinsey, Flags of our Fathers), Deadline is reporting that Anthony Mackie (The Hurt Locker) and Dominic Cooper (An Education) are joining the cast, while Latino Review has it that Robin McLeavy (The Loved Ones) has also joined the production.

Here’s one to make an indie fanboy melt: Shane Black (Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Lethal Weapon) is apparently a serious contender to fill the directing duties left vacant by original Iron Man and Iron Man 2 director Jon Favreau. Black and Downey Jr. collaborated before on “Kiss Kiss” and the “Iron Man” star has approval power for the film’s director.

Cameron hints at “Madness” updates

It’s no secret in Hollywood that the upcoming adaptation of At the Mountains of Madness–directed by Guillermo Del Toro (Pan’s Labyrinth, Hellboy) and produced by James Cameron (Avatar, Titanic)–has been a long time coming for the H.P. Lovecraft 1936 horror novella, having never been adapted in it’s long standing history. After dropping out of the directing role for The Hobbit, Del Toro went public that “Madness” would be his prime focus and that Cameron’s Fusion Camera System will be used to shoot the proposed film.
