“Silent Hill 2” Begins Filming, First Image Revealed



Five years after the first Silent Hill creeped into theaters literally and figuratively, IGN reports that filming has begun on the sequel in Toronto, Silent Hill: Revelation 3D. Further, a production image has already been released, featuring lead star Adelaide Clemens (X-Men Origins: Wolverine) as Heather Mason, packing heat.

“Expendables 2” Won’t Be Written or Directed by Stallone


Sylvester Stallone’s action flick The Expendables took in $250 million worldwide, so it’s natural that it would get a sequel. In the first film, Stallone led an ensemble of action stars that included Steve Austin, Terry Crews, and Jason Statham; the aging action staple also co-wrote the film with screenwriter David Callaham. Although the plot for the sequel has yet to be announced, The Los Angeles Times has the scoop on some very intriguing information about the film: Stallone will be far less involved this time around, starring in the film as opposed to the additional jobs of directing and co-writing.

“Mountains of Madness” Declared “Dead,” Del Toro Eyes “Pacific Rim”



Well this is depressing. Guillermo Del Toro’s adaptation of H.P Lovecraft’s At the Mountains of Madness was taking so long to be greenlit that reports surfaced via Deadline that the Pan’s Labyrinth director was swirling about another film for Legendary Pictures: Pacific Rim. Now, EW.com confirms that Del Toro has said the project has “gone dark.” In other words, you can forget about it.

Newly Announced “Tomb Raider” Reboot Set for Release in 2013

In 1996, the world was introduced to adventurer Lara Croft in the video game Tomb Raider. The game was a runaway hit and became a video game franchise. In 2001, Angelina Jolie carried a film based on the games – Lara Croft: Tomb Raider – to an impressive domestic take of over $100 million. The success of that film led to the sequel, Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life just two years later. However, that one made roughly half as much as its predecessor stateside. Now it looks like Hollywood has a revitalized interest in the archaeologist. GK Films has secured the film rights for Tomb Raider and looks to have a film out in 2013.

Rango Wrangles Big Bucks



Johnny Depp brings in the coin no matter if it is with his trademark wacky performances or his recognizable voice. It was the latter that landed Rango in the number one spot at the box office. The awkward chameleon was a hit with families earning $38 million. The Adjustment Bureau benefitted from strong critical reception and likeable stars in Emily Blunt and Matt Damon. The sci-fi romance about mysterious men with hats earned a respectable $20 million.
