Sony will help MGM with next two “Bond” films


Now it appears that the studio will be getting some help. Sony Pictures officially stated that it would help MGM in the financing of “Bond 23” and several other films in the near future, including a 24th installment. Sony will also distribute the picture. This continues a long-standing relationship between the studios.

Bradley Cooper Negotiating to Star in “Crow” Remake


Actor Bradley Cooper looks to fill the vacant shoes of a role that’s already been given an iconic performance by Brandon Lee before his passing. Deadline Hollywood reports that Cooper currently negotiates to play Eric Draven, the man seeking to avenge the his and his fiancée’s death, in an upcoming remake of The Crow to be directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo (28 Weeks Later). This remake currently plans to start production this fall.

One of Player Affinity’s favorite films of 2010, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1, is released this Friday and will be a wanted product for Harry Potter fans. Whilst on the re-release front there is The Incredibles and the classic French heist film Le Cercle Rouge.

According to Variety’s Showblitz, Lively is looking to star in the Sam Raimi-helmed Oz, The Great and Powerful as Glinda, the Good Witch of the East. However, Oliver Stone has her at the top of his list to lead his film Savages. If Lively signs on for that one, she’ll play the shared girlfriend of two kingpins.

Russell Brand Strikes Box Office A Second Straight Week

Who would have thought Arthur, a much maligned and in no way funny comedy starring Russell Brand would lead the pack of new movies this weekend. The only consolation is that its $12.6 million premiere was only good enough for second place. The bad news, his even less amusing animated effort held number one for the second week in a row. Hop added $21.6 million to its now $68.1 million tally putting it right on level with Rango.

The rough news is it won’t be helmed by Robert Rodriguez, a director seemingly born to do a film on a wisecracking mercenary with over-the-top abilities. Deadline is reporting that X-Men Origins: Deadpool has found a director in Tim Miller. Who? That was our reaction as well.
