Lily Cole and Sam Spruell on Board for ‘Snow White and the Huntsman’

Tons of actors have been cast for Universal’s Snow White and the Huntsman.
We have the title characters in Kristen Stewart and Chris Hemsworth,
Charlize Theron on board to play the Evil Queen, and seven actors to
play the dwarfs named after Roman emperors. That’s it for the casting,
right?
Well,
not exactly. Sam Spruell and Lily Cole have signed on to take on two
roles in the film. Spruell will play Finn, a henchman sent by the Queen
to murder the titular protagonists; Cole is set to portray a character
named Greta. Cole is perhaps most famous for her role in Terry Gilliam’s
2009 fantasy The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, while Spruell has had roles in war-oriented films such as Defiance and Kathryn Bigelow’s Best Picture winner The Hurt Locker.

‘Angry Birds’ Gets the Film Treatment

The mobile game Angry Birds
has amassed a cult following since it debuted in December
2009. Now, reports are making the rounds that there is enough of a
following to warrant a film adaptation. Variety reports that David Maisel (formally of Marvel Studios) has been brought onboard to guide the project.

Christopher Meloni and Julia Ormond Negotiating for Roles in ‘Man of Steel’

Despite the numerous casting decisions made for Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel, some roles in the Superman reboot still need to be filled, and it seems that two thespians who are more synonymous with television than the silver screen are making their way into the film. Emmy Award nominee Christopher Meloni and Emmy Award winner Julia Ormond are both in negotiations for roles in “Steel.”

‘King of Kong’ Director Will Remake ‘War Games’



Although not the greatest of the “hacker” genre, the 1983 cult film War Games has enough of a reputation to get its own reboot at MGM. This news comes not only with the project announcement, but Deadline reports a director is already in tow: Seth Gordon, who made his debut with the highly successful gaming documentary The King of Kong in 2007.

UPDATE: Emma Stone officially passed on starring in the film, meaning that Pride and Prejudice and Zombies probably won’t hit the production stage as soon as it looked like it would earlier this week. Marvel Studios Will Not Grace Hall H at Comic-Con


With Joss Whedon’s The Avengers on tap for May of next year, one would expect a panel with some teasing footage at the San Diego convention this year, but the LA Times says it ain’t so. A Marvel insider told the publication that the studio decided to “go big or stay home,” and with “Avengers” still filming, the studio didn’t figure to have anything to wow fans with akin to last year’s big casting reveal.
