The trailers and clips scream Snyder, right down to the highly stylized dream world reminiscent of his 300 landscape. But Snyder distinctiveness is one piece of this puzzle. Although this is the first original work of his filmography, it has splices of other movies you may recognize. The first obvious connection is any other movie by Zack Snyder. Here’s the rest. Last week’s votes followed the seeds, with one exception. Samuel L. Jackson and his Coach Carter crew proved no match for the deadly inside-outside combination of Bugs Bunny and Michael Jordan in Space Jam.
Another week, another round of the most exciting movie contest on the web! Boxing movies: we got `em, you rank `em. It’s the next best thing to being punched in the head yourself. Ding Ding, onto Round 2.
Just like if Mike Tyson went head to head against Betty White, there were no upsets in round one. Despite Cinderella Man taking an early 3-1 lead in votes, Rocky handily won in the end and The Fighter, though a new contender to the genre, continued to dance on its praise and awards success defeating Denzel Washington and his pseudo-boxing flick The Hurricane.

back to Player Affinity’s Sports Movie Madness! Last week, we held the
opening round of voting to determine the best sports movie ever. You
voted, and we’ve got your results, as well as matchups for Round 2.
But first, let’s recap for those of you new to the tournament. In
the Sports Movie Madness tournament, there are seven sports and one
mega-category of miscellaneous sports, so eight regions total. This is
the Football Region. Below are the four football films remaining after
the first round of voting. There are two matchups based on our original
seedings, and your job is to pick which movie you deem worthy of winning
each matchup. Simply enter a comment by Sunday at 5:00 pm with
the two movies you think should win each matchup (once again, not
any two movies, but one of the two movies going up against each other,
so no voting for Remember the Titans and Friday Night Lights,
only one or the other) and your votes count! After a winner is
determined in each region, those films will face off against one another
until we have a winner!
One could suspect that I love and care for the classics such as The Exorcist, Hellraiser, Evil Dead, Silence Of The Lambs, Poltergeist, The Shining, Halloween, The Thing, etc. However, as fantastic, excellent, and perfect as these classic fright flicks may be, they are not my top five favorite horror films. They would definitely rank in my top 13 or 25, but not my top five.
Not a huge fan of mainstream sports movies like basketball, football and baseball? Here’s your chance to vote for the more eclectic sports films of the bunch with everything from golf to horseracing to surfing to dodgeball. This category is a 16-team field, so get ready to vote!
