The finale of one of cinema’s best-executed franchises in “Harry Potter” comes out next Friday and we are going to continue with our countdown with No. 5 on our list of least to most enjoyed, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. A break from the first two films in the series, this entry offers all the wizardry we would expect thought perhaps not the punch we wanted.

Harry Potter Countdown: No. 6 ‘Chamber of Secrets’

The finale of one of cinema’s best-executed franchises in “Harry Potter” comes out next Friday and we are going to continue with our countdown with No. 6 on our list of least to most enjoyed, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. Coincidentally the first two films cap off the “least enjoyed” section. Based on the second novel, “Chamber of Secrets” we describe the film as both fun family fantasy and patch piece of work. Here are our thoughts in more detail:

Harry Potter Countdown: No. 7. ‘Sorcerer’s Stone’

The finale of one of cinema’s best-executed franchises in “Harry Potter,” comes out next Friday, so we at PAM wanted to start a countdown of the “Harry Potter” films from least enjoyable to best as we see them. I should emphasize least enjoyable because quite honestly, the “Potter” series has delivered a definite quality standard that no franchise based on a book before (and most likely after) will ever attain again.

Actors Affinity: The Cast of Horrible Bosses

Dancing the admiration dance for, say, Kevin Spacey, would a pleasurable and honest undertaking, as would speaking to a great comedic thespian like Jason Bateman, or heaping praise on Jason Sudeikis, or Charlie Day, or Jennifer Aniston, or Colin Farrell *gasp*. But hell, when all those actors are in one flick, picking and choosing is like Sophie’s Choice but more gruelling. The R-rated, high-concept comedy Horrible Bosses plots its way into theaters Friday, so let’s take an ensemble peek at the players who are bound to make this another raunchy hit of the summer.

Most Surprising and Disappointing Films of 2011 So Far

As fun as we at PAM had with our top five movies of 2011
at the mid-way point, it’s typically not the best time to begin
assessing the year; most of the good stuff comes out July through
December. It’s a good time, however, for discussing what we thought we’d
like that didn’t work out and what we didn’t think we’d care for that
went above expectations.
Combining
past success, early buzz, user ratings, what we at PAM thought, word of
mouth and box-office receipts, this was not a tough list to put
together. My early findings were this: March was a hotbed of activity in
this area this year. Looking at March 2012 and 2013, March is shaping
up to truly be a buzz-worthy month with films that have big hopes yet
not enough confidence to go up against the titans of summer.

Clive Owen, and finally from director Renny Harlin comes 5 Days of War, an explosive but true-to-facts account about the
brief clash between Russia

and Georgia
.
All we have here is five days worth of fun packed into one feature

Larry Crowne: Why It Flopped

Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts star in the new romantic comedy Larry Crowne.
Their names alone should guarantee success, but that oddly isn’t the
case. As of this writing, the film has pulled in less than $20 million
in the States since its theatrical bow this past Friday.
So
why has the film performed so terribly? While a definite answer might
never be found, we at Player Affinity have five different theories about
why people didn’t bother checking out the latest Hanks-Roberts
collaboration over the holiday weekend.
