Trailer Tracker to J-27;
it’s a hit! Our featured trailer this week is the mega-budgeted “adaptation” of
the Milton Bradley board game starring Liam Neeson and Taylor Kitsch, directed
by Peter Berg whereby an armada of ships does battle with a sea-bound alien
race (no, I’m not shitting you).
Films can connect with people on some powerful levels. They can break your heart, bring you to your feet in applause, even make you tremble in fear. They can also make you fall in love.
Some people are calling Cowboys & Aliens a comeback of a genre – a reinvention of sorts. I’m calling it a potential disaster. I detect a movie that has gone the route of taking itself way too seriously. It wasn’t the first, it won’t be the last, and this is hardly an exhaustive list of the uppity cinematic experiences we at PAM can recall.
Player Affinity never rests
when it comes to trailers and thanks to San Diego’s Comic-Con a good chunk of
new and interesting clips were revealed, some of which so cool we thought they
deserved their own edition. First we have In
Time, the sci-fi action thriller starring Justin Timberlake in a world
where longevity is more valuable than gold, then Haywire, Steven Soderbergh’s pissed-off-chick-on-a-mission revenge
flick. The out-of-nowhere angle comes from the independent effort Knights of Badassdom, and finally we
recap on some already featured trailers that show promising new life. We’ve included
the
award winner Drive and the
soon-to-be-upon-us Rise of the Planet of
the Apes. There’s no monkey business when it comes to trailers, it’s
Comic-Con.
Despite some of the higher-profile projects on the horizon (The Avengers, The Dark Knight Rises, Man of Steel) not showing up in San Diego, Comic-Con 2011 was quite busy. The stars showed up, secret footage was unveiled, some gloriously geeky tidbits of movie knowledge were dropped, and now, we’ve got a whole bunch of new projects to look forward to. Here, in no particular order, are the 5 things that intrigued me most.
