August used to be a terrible month for films, but over the last few years, huge successes have been born here. Comedies in particular have found new life in August. In 2007, Superbad opened to critical acclaim and $33 million. In 2008, Pineapple Express and Tropic Thunder found a solid measure of success.

Dinner for Schmucks features Paul Rudd and Steve Carell as people who become friends based on the circumstances that pit them together. There are so man films that use this classic story device, so these are just a few (in the grand scheme of things) personal favorites scrounged up for this week’s PAM-10.

With summer halfway over and Comic Con in the books, it’s time to take another look at everyone’s favorite subject: 3-D films. Nearly every film panel brought up the reasons why its film was or wasn’t in more than two dimensions, so when Nick Allen at the Daily Telegraph suggested that 3-D cinema is already declining, the taboo topic deserved further discussion.
There were plenty of films that debuted in Hall H that make for a very promising end of the year and start to 2011. There were some we’d never heard of or seen anything from and others we’ve been waiting to glimpse for a long time. Below is a list of ten movies that upped their excitement factor with presentations at this year’s Con.

Either way, Inception has won over the box office and the minds of moviegoers everywhere. But although the sentiments are largely positive, there’s one thing that hardly anyone agrees on: the ending.
