Mortal Kombat X Officially Announced
After teasing for months by Ed Boon himself, WB Games and Netherrealm Studios have finally announced
Mortal Kombat X. This is indeed the tenth game in the popular fighting game franchise, but definitely with next generation graphics and presentation in mind as shown in the CG trailer below.
Unsurprisingly featuring Scorpion and Sub-Zero, the fight takes place in a forest at night and the staples of the series are there especially if you played recent
Mortal Kombat games. From the ninjas' trademark moves are there and looking better than ever, EX special moves, interactable objects returning from Netherrealm's last fighting game,
Injustice: Gods Among Us, X-ray moves back from the last
Mortal Kombat, and of course fatalities, Netherrealm is going all out with this sequel especially from what they learned the last few years trying to cater to both casual and tournament level players.
The press release did announce the platforms
Mortal Kombat X will be on that the trailer didn't and if you saw the Amazon listings yesterday, the game is coming out sometime in 2015 for Playstation 4, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and PC. It also mentioned other details such as characters with multiple variations to mix things up stylistically and persistent online play. While we see most of the old cast returning, new characters will be introduced in this new game.
Both Netherrealm and WB Games did say that there will be more
Mortal Kombat X at E3 next week. Hopefully we will see gameplay footage then, but the CG trailer is good enough for now.
