MoCCA Fest This Weekend In New York

The Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art is holding its 10th annual MoCCA Fest this Saturday and Sunday afternoon in New York City.  A different sort of affair when compared to the New York Comic Con, MoCCA Fest offers a look at the historical and artistic side of comic books, manga, comic strips and graphic novels.

Throughout the weekend, attendees will be able to shop from vendors, meet indie artists, and attend panels on issues including “A History of Comic Censorship”, “How To Run A Comic Shop”, and the influence of European comics on the American industry.  There are also kid-focused events on both days, with panels ranging from “Comics Are Awesome” to a workshop on teaching kids how to bring their ideas to fruition.  Grown-ups seeking advice on how to improve their comics skills can attends workshops including “"Drawing with Rick Parker" of Beavis & Butthead, and Papercutz.

The festival runs 11:00-6:00 on Saturday April 28th and Sunday the 29th, with special programming on Sunday from 9:00 am through 11:00. One Day Admission is $12, two day passes are $18 online, or $15 and $24 at the door.  Tickets and more information can be found at MoCCA Fest's website
