Mindy Kaling and Helena Bonham Carter Join ‘Ocean’s Eleven’ Reboot
Showbizz411 brings word Mindy Kaling and Helena Bonham Carter will join the all-new, all-female
Ocean's Eleven reboot and also confirms that Cate Blanchett and Sandra Bullock will star in it as well. Elizabeth Banks is also rumored as a possibly joining the cast.
The film, tentatively titled
Ocean's Ocho (cho meaning eight, implying there will be eight protagonists instead of the traditional eleven) will be a continuation of the George Clooney-led
Ocean's Eleven trilogy, with Sandra Bullock playing Danny Ocean's ex-con sister, who is forming a band of thieves to steal a necklace from the Met Ball in order to frame a villainous gallery owner.
The article also indicates that Jennifer Lawrence will not be appearing in the movie, possibly due to her busy schedule.
Garry Ross (
The Hunger Games,
Free State of Jones) is attached to direct and produce the heist thriller from a script penned by Olivia Milch. The idea for the reboot was developed by Steven Soderbergh, the mind behind the
Ocean's Eleven remake trilogy, along with producer Jerry Weintraub and George Clooney.
The 2001
Ocean's Eleven was a remake of Rat Pack-led 1960's
Ocean’s 11, starring Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr.
The upcoming all-female reboot is expected to begin shooting this fall. No release date has been set yet.
