Microsoft & 343 Industries Announce Halo 5: Guardians
The big game announcements before E3 2014 keep on rolling as Microsoft & 343 Industries have officially announced
Halo 5: Guardians earlier this morning. There was a teaser last E3 featuring Master Chief, but now we have a subtitle for the next
Halo game which is not surprisingly slated for a fall 2015 release only for the Xbox One.
343's General Manager Bonnie Ross has said that this fifth
Halo game is a "bigger effort" than
Halo 4. A new and powerful engine is also in place for this sequel as well. That's all Ross can say about
Halo 5: Guardians except wait till E3 for more details and a new trailer at the Microsoft press conference. The big sequel is a part of a busy 2015 for
Halo fans along with the TV series Steven Spielberg is working on that is also slated to start next fall.
However, Ross did tease something that has been rumored for a while, "I
spoke about a “journey,” rather than a destination – and that journey definitely begins in 2014 with a giant leap
, rather than one small step." This possibly means that Halo 2 Anniversary will be at E3 in some capacity and be released this fall to ease the wait for the fifth game. We have to wait and see if that is true next month.
Halo 4 was a solid start to the new trilogy, but didn't share the same success critically and financially compared to Bungie's games. Multiplayer popularity has dwindled due to
Call of Duty and
Battlefield, so hopefully 343 has been back in the drawing board learning from their mistakes.
Halo 5: Guardians will be released in fall 2015 only for the Xbox One and more of it will be shown at E3 in less than a month.
