Maggie Gyllenhaal in Talks for ‘White House Down’
Casting for
Roland Emmerich's next action film,
White House Down, has heated up quick.
Channing Tatum became
the first actor to sign a few weeks back and just yesterday we learned that
Jamie Foxx has begun negotiations
to play the president. Today,
Maggie Gyllenhaal became the first lady to join the cast, no pun intended.
Gyllenhaal will not play Foxx's wife, but a Secret Service agent that
The Hollywood Reporter has learned is "an unwavering patriot." Tatum also plays a Secret Service agent who must stomp out a paramilitary invasion of the White House.
In order to meet the "
Die Hard in the White House" hype, all the film needs at this point is a strong villain. I keep thinking it's going to be Gary Oldman (something about presidents under siege), though he'll be
busy with Robocop this summer.
Sony Pictures has scheduled
White House Down for release on November 1, 2013.
