Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII Pushed Back

Square-Enix have pushed back the date of release for the up and coming Final Fantasy game, Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII.

Originally scheduled for a fall drop this year, the gaming site Joystiq announced yesterday, that the game had now been given a February 2014 release date, for both US and European versions. The news came after a new E3 trailer spilled the beans in the closing credits.

Lightning Returns is the sequel to the 2012 game, FFXIII-2, both of which are part for the Fabula Nova Crystallis series. This title will see players in the role of heroine, Lightning, who only has a number of days to save the world from total obliteration.

Along the way Lightning will meet up with former allies including Snow Villiers and Hope Estheim but neither them nor the others will be playable characters.

In other Lightening Returns news, Square-Enix have also revealed a new ‘Ultimate Box’ for the Japan version of the game, which will be released this year and it includes all three of the FFXIII games, a Play Arts figurine of Lightning and more.

Scheduled for a February 11, 2014 release in the US and February 14 in Europe, Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII will be available on both the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3.
