‘Lego’ Movie Will Feature Batman and Superman
The CGI-animated Lego movie, now titled
Lego: The Piece of Resistance is coming along just super. Directors
Phil Lord and
Chris Miller (
21 Jump Street) had previously alluded to the possibility that some of the properties to which Lego has the building block toy rights
would sneak into their film, and it turns out they will. In fact, Warner Bros. will unite Batman and Superman for the first time (though in Lego form) in the film (sorry, future possible
Justice League movie).
Variety has learned that
Will Arnett will voice Batman and
Channing Tatum has been offered Superman. No word on how extensive the role of either hero will be in the film, but brief supporting appearances is enough of an entertaining prospect.
Parks and Recreation star
Chris Pratt will voice the main character in the film, Emmet, an "ordinary, law-abiding Lego mini-figure who is mistaken for the most extraordinary MasterBuilder. He's drafted into a fellowship of strangers on a quest to stop an evil tyrant from gluing the universe together."
Animal Logic will create the animated Lego world, 80 percent of which is said to be composed of Lego bricks.
Lego: The Piece of Resistance, is scheduled to arrive in theaters February 28, 2014.
