John Krasinski to Play Jack Ryan in Amazon Series
John Krasinski is returning to the small screen in the new Amazon original series
Jack Ryan, which is based on the novels by Tom Clancy, according to
Deadline.
The series will not be an exact replica of the books, but they will be used as source material for a more contemporary version. In the novels, Jack Ryan is an investment broker for a CIA analyst who becomes President of the United States.
There have been a number of Jack Ryan film adaptations, with Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford, Ben Affleck, and Chris Pine each taking turns portraying Ryan.
This role will mark Krasinski's first big television role since his nine season run on the American version of
The Office on NBC.
The showrunners of this news series will be Carlton Cuse and Graham Roland, who previously worked together on
Lost. The show hasn't been ordered to series by Amazon, but this casting news might just be what the show needs to get a series order.
