Hulu officially announces Hulu Plus, and confirms that indeed the service will be coming to game consoles such as the Xbox 360. Right now the service is in a closed beta, and will open up to non-VIP consumers soon.
The service will be $9.99 per month, and will give users full access to older and current shows such as the X-files, 30 Rock, Glee, and Law and Order: SVU. There will be support from other networks such as ABC, NBC, FOX, among others (but not CBS).
Now I'm sure that besides the $9.99 a month price tag there has to be more to it, right? Well, you're right. The service, like the free Hulu, will have short commercial breaks with ads. Also, if the service is used on a game system such as the Xbox 360, it will require Xbox Live (PS3 owners will need PSN Plus during its trial as well).
Overall the service has potential, but it has a lot of competition with Netflix which starts at a dollar less, and still lets users get one DVD in the mail at a time. Who knows if the service can make it, but as of right now it's hard to say it's worth the price.
