HBO’s The Leftovers First Trailer
The first trailer for HBO’s upcoming drama
The Leftovers has been released and it is effectively intriguing as it provides the first glimpses of the world of the show. Based on the Tom Perotta’s novel of the same name,
The Leftovers depicts a world in which two percent of the population simply vanished into thin air and the narrative focuses on those who are left to deal with the many disappearances. What happened is shrouded in mystery. Was it the Rapture? Are these people gone forever? How do the ones left behind move on from this occurrence? The trailer poses these questions and gives us a compelling look into the various character’s stories and overall mood of the show. It is pretty depressing (people mourning the loss of their loved ones, suicide, lots of Justin Theroux looking moody, creepy cult), but incredibly engaging, at least from what the video shows.
The series is co-created and written by Perotta and
Lost creator, Damon Lindelof and Perter Berg (Friday Night Lights) directed the pilot. It stars Justin Theroux, Liv Tyler, Christopher Eccleston, Amy Brenneman, Michael Gaston and Ann Dowd. The Leftovers premieres Sunday, June 29 at 10 p.m. on HBO.
