It was announced today that Syfy has picked up supernatural drama series Haven for a third season. Keeping with the tradition set by the first two seasons, the show is touted to be returning for 13 new episodes in 2012.
Based on Stephen King novel The Colorado Kid, Haven follows an FBI agent sent to Haven, Maine to help investigate a murder, only to get involved with the small town's paranormal secrets. The series stars Emily Rose as lead FBI agent Audrey Parker, along with Lucas Bryant as the local police chief's son and Eric Balfour as the town smuggler.
What direction the show is set to take logically remains under wraps, but many of the cast members have been quoted as saying that the second season took on a darker tone than the first, and the consistent numbers that the show has put up for the relatively small network suggest that fans have embraced it.
Although Syfy recently announced that it would be canceling long-running comedy-drama Eureka, Haven’s renewal along with the pick-up of Alphas for a second season sends a signal of confidence to other shows on the channel.
Haven’s christmas special is set to air December 6th.
