Halo: The Master Chief Collection Has A 20GB Day 1 Update
"Halo Fans Will Need To Download 20GB Update Before They Can Play Valhalla All Night"
Halo: The Master Chief Collection is coming out this November and for those picking the game up, they will have to download a 20GB update before they can play the collection. The 20GB update is being done due to the size limits of Blu-Ray discs.
Microsoft stated that
The Master Chief Collection ".
..will take up almost all of the usable space of a single Blu-ray (45 GB) and we [Microsoft] will also issue a content update at launch that is estimated to be 20 GB." This was done to ensure that they didn't have to "...cut corners to save disc space." Microsoft explained that while they understand the update is large, they feel that
Halo players deserve "...all the
Halo goodness..".
Luckily, players who pre-order the game digitally will be able to not only preload the game, but also the update. Players who wish to do this will need to change one their "Power Options" on the Xbox One to "Instant On". Doing so will download the game and the update before its November 11th release. This doesn't help people who have data caps or bandwidth restrictions, but for those who don't mind downloading 20GB at least Microsoft is providing them with some options to make the update easier.
Halo: The Master Chief Collection will include
Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary Edition, Halo 2 Anniversary, Halo 3 and
Halo 4. The games will run at 60fps and have improved resolutions and new and returning
achievements.
The Master Chief Collection will be out November 11th on Xbox One.
