The highly anticipated game from developer DrinkBox Studios, Guacamelee, was given a release date today opting for a Playstation 3 and Vita simultaneous launch utilizing the "Cross-Buy" feature. "Guacamelee! is a Metroidvania style action platformer set in a magical Mexican inspired world." As with most Metroidvania style of games, the player will be able to traverse the world of Guacamelee at their leisure.
It features from the looks of it, a robust fighting system much adhering to that of a side-scrolling hack and slash like Guardian Heroes. There is also a "dual world shift" ability very similar to that of the superb Outland where the world changed at the click of a button to two "realms" of the same world to bypass certain platforming sections and enemies.
Guacamelee is set to release on April 9th, and I am ecstatic. Were you one of the anticipated individuals waiting for "Guac?" Has the recent launch trailer piqued your interest? Let us know in the comments below.
