Get ready for a wave of nostalgia, folks. Boy Meets World spinoff, the aptly titled Girl Meets World, has cast Rowan Blanchard as Riley Matthews, the daughter of Cory and Topanga.
The eleven-year-old actress already has a few titles to her name: she starred in Spy Kids 4 and had a role in The Back-Up Plan. Blanchard was cast following a nationwide search for the perfect mini-Cory Matthews.
"As soon as Rowan walked into the room, I was reminded of why Ben Savage was loved as Cory Matthews," said the show’s producer Michael Jacobs. "Rowan is real and accessible and I am hopeful this girl is about to meet a world that will love growing up with her as well."
Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel will also return to the show in their original roles and Cory and Topanga. Girl Meets World is meant to be a reboot as much as a sequel; the adventures of 13-yeard-old Riley Matthews will be very reminiscent of those of her father Cory back in the 90’s. Would anyone our age watch something on the Disney channel anymore? Probably not, but it's still fun to reminisce.
Girl Meets World is set to debut sometime in 2013-2014 on the Disney Channel .
