Game of Thrones Season Six is Getting Another Queen
Game of Thrones has cast Australian actress Essie Davis, who played Amelia in the horror film
The Babadook, for season 6, according to
EW.com. Davis will be playing Cersei Lannister in a theater troupe’s dramatization of the events in King’s Landing. The troupe stages a play called “The Bloody Hand,” a show about the events that have been taking place at King’s Landing since the show started. Could this be the
Saturday Night Live of
Game of Thrones?
Davis is also known for her role in the two
Matrix sequels and the Australian version of
The Slap miniseries. Other casting news for next season of Game of Thrones includes Max von Sydow as the Three-Eyed Raven, Ian McShane (joining the cast in an as-yet-unannounced role), Richard E. Grant (also without a named character to play at this point),
Freddie Stroma as Dickon Tarly (Sam's younger brother) and Pilou Asbaek as Euron Greyjoy. Production continues in Northern Ireland and Spain and fans are continuing to see if they can spot Kit Harington (Jon Snow) or any other surprise returning faces.
Game of Thrones will be returning to HBO next spring with these new cast members and more. Stay tuned for more news from all your favorites in Westeros.
