FX has renewed three of its comedy series – It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, The League, and Legit – to help launch the third FX-branded entertainment network, FXX, which will go live on September 2. FXX will take over Fox Soccer Channel and will be available in 74 million homes.
The three comedies, along with late-night show Totally Biased with W. Kamau Bell and another to be determined comedy that will likely come from FX’s half-hour pilots, will anchor the FXX channel. Aimed at adults 18-34, the network hopes to have six comedy series by the second year, with an intention to add dramas in the future.
It’s Always Sunny, FX’s flagship comedy, is set to premiere its ninth season in late 2013.
