Deadline has learned that cable network FX, known as much for their film library as they are for their original programs, has acquired the television rights to The Other Guys and Takers.
With a 5 film deal made between the cable network and Sony Pictures T.V, The Other Guys and Takers are the last two; FX now having five Sony films to show on their network in the coming future. Earlier in the summer, the network had acquired the rights to Sony films Dear John, Death at a Funeral, and The Bounty Hunter.
Yet Sony is not the only studio FX has built bridges with. In the last few months, the network has also acquired the T.V rights to Marvel's Iron Man 2, Dreamworks' Shrek Forever After and How to Train Your Dragon, as well as Summit's The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, Fox's Date Night and Columbia's Salt.
Of the films acquired from Sony, three of them have debuted at number one: The Other Guys, Takers and Dear John. Couple that with the laundry list of number one films FX has acquired over the summer, and it's a safe bet the network will not be hurting for advertising dollars in the future.
