Fox Orders New 24 Series Pilot Without Jack Bauer
"Live Another Day, Disappear the Next"
24 will live on, but without Kiefer Sutherland’s Jack Bauer.
Fox has ordered a pilot for
24: Legacy, an ongoing series featuring an entirely new cast of characters. Howard Gordon, Manny Coto, Evan Katz, and Brian Grazer will executive produce the project, with Stephen Hopkins, director of the original
24 pilot,
set to direct the pilot episode.

No former members of the Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU) are expected to have an ongoing presence in the series, which means we won't be seeing any more of fan-favorite Kate Morgan (played by Yvonne Strahovski in
24: Live Another Day). (Image via

The new
24 series will center on “a military hero’s return to the U.S. and the trouble that follows him back – compelling him to ask the CTU for help in saving his life, and stopping what potentially could be one of the largest-scale terror attacks on American soil.” The main character will be a man named Eric Carter, who was conceived as being a "diverse lead,"
according to Fox Television Group Chairman and CEO Dana Walden. Meanwhile, the female lead is a former head of the CTU.
Like
the original
series,
24: Legacy will
occur in real-time, with each episode representing one hour of the day.
