Former EA CEO John Riccitello Is The New CEO of Unity
"Unity Founder and CEO Steps Down, Riccitello Takes Over"
Unity has announced that company founder David Helgason has stepped down from his CEO position.
John Riccitello is now the new CEO of Unity. Unity is a popular game engine used by many different studios and creators to make
all types of different games for many different platforms. In the last 2 years or so Unity has grown in popularity and use.
In a blog post on the official Unity site, Helgason explained why Riccitello was taking over the role. Helgason said "He’s the right person to help guide the company to the mission that we set out for ourselves over a decade ago: democratize game development!" Riccitello was the former CEO and COO of EA and has helped fund companies like Oculus.
David Helgason also talked about what he will be doing now that he is no longer CEO.
"So, what does this mean for me? It means I get to get back to doing what I love the most about working at Unity: strategy, and connecting with developers. I will be heavily involved with the company’s direction, and will focus my efforts on finding the best ways to serve all of you amazing developers, all while working with some insanely talented people here at Unity."
As for the future of Unity, Helgason said not to expect many changes "...since John completely agrees with our vision and our strategy. If anything it means that we’ll be more focused than ever about making sure everyone has access to the best technology and services."
