Director Brett Ratner, known for his work on X-Men: The Last Stand and the Rush Hour film series, has joined with Six Eleven Media to produce an animated show based on the popular online game FarmVille.
“FarmVille is one of the most exciting brands out there today and its cross-platform opportunities are endless. I am thrilled to be expanding the brand with existing fans and also engaging a whole new audience,” Ratner said in a statement.
Released by Zynga in 2009, FarmVille took Facebook by storm with its social farming simulation. At the end of 2010, about 80 million people played the game each month. Although its popularity has waned, FarmVille still ranks in the top ten based on Facebook's Daily Active Users statistics. FarmVille 2, a sequel to the game, was released in September 2012.
The project with Ratner currently isn’t attached to a network.
