E3 2015 Preview: Square-Enix
"Square Enix is Riding A Big Chocobo to LA, What Games Are They Bringing With Them?"
E3 2015 is coming soon and so is the Square Enix E3 Conference. Square-Enix is a strange company. Known primarily for their hugely successful and long running
Final Fantasy series (and other JRPGs), the company has expanded more in the last few years. They now publish all sorts of games from different studios around the world. Here are some of the games we think Square-Enix will have for this E3.
Final Fantasy & Disney
Final Fantasy XV was a huge reveal at E3 2013. People went crazy over the official announcement that
Final Fantasy Versus XIII was changing it’s name and becoming a new game,
Final Fantasy XV. The demo that was recently released will be receiving an update and rumors are that we will get a release date at this Square-Enix’s E3 2015 event. It makes sense. Square-Enix must have some big news to warrant their own conference.
Speaking of big news,
Kingdom Hearts 3 was one of the biggest announcements at E3 2013. People cheered, cried and screamed when that game was shown for the first time 2 years ago.
Kingdom Hearts 3 skipped E3 last year, but with Square holding their own show it makes sense to bring the big guns.
Kingdom Hearts 3 is one of the biggest guns you can have and announcing a release window or date could cause the internet to fall apart for a few hours. So I wouldn’t be surprised if
KH3 makes an appearance.
Dragon Quest-ing
Dragon Quest Heroes is coming to the West in October, so we might see some more info about the game at E3. Maybe some gameplay or new content will be shown. I doubt the sequel, which Square-Enix has confirmed is being made, will be teased. The first game hasn’t shipped yet in the US, so why tease the follow-up at a US conference?
Dragon Quest 8 for 3DS is coming to stores in Aug. But only in Japan as of this writing. So could Square-Enix announce a US release date at E3? Possibly. Seems like a logical thing to do. Then again, they aren't always logical.
Did You Ask For Deus Ex and Just Cause?
Just Cause 3 is coming out this year. We don’t have an official release date yet though. So maybe a more specific release date will be given? Or maybe the unfortunate news that
Just Cause 3 is being delayed? Either way I think we will for sure see Rico and his stunt jumps at the Square-Enix event. Hopefully it’s good news, like a release date of Nov. 2015. And not bad news like a delay. Also, could we see some gameplay? Maybe. Possibly even the first tease of whatever multiplayer they have planned.
Not long ago
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided was officially revealed. This is the long rumored sequel to
Deus Ex: Human Revolution. We haven’t seen too much of this game since the Game Informer cover story a few months back. So I’m expecting some more footage and information about
Mankind Divided to pop up at this year’s E3.
Hitman? Tomb Raider?
Agent 47 might pop up at the Square-Enix E3 event. There have been rumors and teasing of a new
Hitman game for awhile now, so it wouldn’t be crazy. That new movie is coming out, so even if the new game is (most likely) not related to it in any way, it could still be a smart move to get them both out this year. But Square-Enix might also not care about that. Either way, I think a new
Hitman game will get revealed at E3 2015.
The new
Tomb Raider was really good and people really liked it. So it made sense that it would get a sequel. Which it did,
Rise of The Tomb Raider. But it was surprising to see Microsoft scoop it up and make it Xbox exclusive. Now we know that it will be coming to other platforms..at some point. But for now, it is an Xbox only game. S
o Rise of The Tomb Raider might be at the Square-Enix E3 event, but I also wouldn’t be surprised if the real gameplay and news about
Rise of The Tomb Raider comes at the Xbox E3 2015 press conference.
Could Be Good... Could Have Some Surprises
Square-Enix deciding to have a E3 conference could be a sign that they have big stuff to announce. Or it could mean that they overestimated how “big” the stuff they have to announce is. We will have to wait to find out. But of all the companies holding E3 conferences, Square-Enix might be the ones with the biggest ability to make fans happy or surprise them. Of course they have also been good at disappointing fans or even angering them. So it could go either way.
But that makes it one of the most exciting E3 events to watch this year. Diverse games and the potential to blow people away or greatly upset them. Either way, I can't wait to watch Square-Enix at E3.
