Durant Scores NBA Elite 11 Cover

2010 NBA Scoring Champion and All-Star, Kevin Durant, has been named cover athlete of EA Sports revamped basketball franchise NBA Elite 11 (formerly NBA Live). Durant is hot off the heels of a break-out season in which he scored 30.1 points per game, shot 48% from the field, and shot a stellar 90% from the free throw line. Durant is one of only three EA Sports cover athletes to be featured on both an NCAA and Pro game cover, having been cover athlete of 2008's installment of NCAA March Madness. This has certainly been a big year for the newly renamed franchise, which also added new Creative Director David Littman from EA Sports NHL franchise. Durant joins Super Bowl MVP Drew Brees, Tiger Woods, Fedor Emelianenko, Randy Couture, Tim Teebow, and Stanley Cup Champion Johnathon Toews as a member of the 2010 class of EA Sports cover athletes.

NBA Elite 11 is promising to be the first NBA game to feature real time physics and one-to-one responsiveness for on court movement and actions by the user, removing predetermined animations and scenarios from the game entirely. Hopefully this is something that is less talk and a lot more action. The video below explains the concepts the developers want to present this year, along with some footage of the in-game mechanics. If this is pulled off the way they describe, without destroying the flow of the game, this may be the year I finally leave behind my old allegiances with 2K Sports and turn to the dark side. After all, I'm told they have cookies...I like cookies.

NBA ELITE 11 will be released for the PLAYSTATION 3 and Xbox 360 this fall.
