Diddy Kong Returns to Super Smash Bros. Wii U/3DS

To honor today's release of Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, Smash Bros. director Masahiro Sakurai officially announced on the game’s site and Miiverse page that Diddy Kong will be returning to Super Smash Bros. for Wii U/3DS.

Several screenshots were posted of the Kong and we see that little has changed. Diddy still sports his rocket barrels, peanut popgun and bananas in addition his acrobatic skills. Diddy was a formidable foe in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, so we’ll see if Sakurai decided to alter anything in this fourth installment.
If you’re wondering who’s left to reannounce, it’s safe to say that Yoshi will next soon, and it’ll probably be next month when Yoshi’s New Island launches. On top of Yoshi, the remaining veterans we haven’t seen are Captain Falcon, Jigglypuff, Ness, Ganondorf, Meta Knight, Falco, Ice Climbers, Wario, Mr. Game & Watch, Ike, Pokémon Trainer, Wolf O’Donnell, Lucas, R.O.B., Pichu, Mewtwo, Roy, Dr. Mario and Konami’s Solid Snake; but don’t expect a chunk of those folks coming back.
