Diablo III: Reaper of Souls Gets Major Update
"Diablo III Gets A New Environment and Leaderboards"
Diablo III: Reaper of Souls has
received its first major update. Patch 2.1.0 is now live and brings with it tons of new changes and some new features. The video below shows some of the new features and changes that patch 2.1.0 is bringing to
Diablo III: Reaper of Souls.
Seasons are an optional and recurring game mode. They will have their own leaderboards, achievements, items and more. Players will create a new character for each season and will earn rewards that can be applied to non-season characters. Season characters will also have their own separate Paragon level and Artisans. More info about seasons can be
found here.
Greater Rifts are new endgame content for
Diablo III: Reaper of Souls. They will allow players to go through a infinite number of areas, each one increasing in difficulty. If a player can beat these in a fast time they can skip multiple levels at once. When a player runs out of time they end their run and their results are added to the new leaderboards. You can read more about this new feature
here.
There will also be a new environment to explore in
Diablo III called The Cesspools. This can randomly appear in the Greater Rifts mode. Blizzard explained what the Cesspools are:
Originally designed as the sewers of Westmarch, we weren't quite able to include the Cesspools in the list of playable environments in Reaper of Souls by the time the expansion launched. Still, we loved the look and feel of this festering, dank underworld and have spent some time polishing it up for use in Nephalem Rifts and Greater Rifts. We hope you enjoy this new randomized landscape!
Along with these new features Blizzard released a large and extensive list of patch notes. You can see the
full list here.
No word however on when this is coming to console from Blizzard.
