Courtney B. Vance Joins American Crime Story
Courtney B. Vance is the latest star to join the growing cast of Ryan Murphy’s
American Crime Story. The actor will be playing defense attorney Johnnie Cochran, who was part of the “dream team” that represented O.J. Simpson along with Robert Kardashian (David Schwimmer) and Robert Shapiro (John Travolta). As previously announced Cuba Gooding Jr. will play Simpson and
American Horror Story alum, Sarah Paulson will portray prosecutor Marcia Clark.
The first season of
American Crime Story is based on Jeffrey Toobin’s book “The Run of His Life: The People v. O.J. Simpson.” Which takes a close look at both sides of the infamous trial and explores the social and cultural milieu of the time and its effect on the trial’s outcome. Production will begin this year in Los Angeles.
As with most Ryan Murphy productions (see
Scream Queens and
American Horror Story) the project boasts an impressive and intriguing cast sure to draw in viewers despite Murphy’s shaky track record with television shows. Nevertheless, even if the writing is subpar, this does seem like a series worth watching out for; it could turn out to be a truly effective work of drama or a fabulously entertaining train wreck. Either way, we’ll be watching.
How about you?
