Community Renewed by Yahoo!
Pop pop! It seems that
Community might just make #sixseasonsandamovie a reality. Following the news that Hulu passed on reviving the cancelled comedy, a last minute save by Yahoo (yeah, Yahoo! really) will bring back our Greendale faves for a thirteen-episode season this fall. Seriously, this was the last day a deal like this could have been made since the actors’ contracts with Sony would have expired tonight at midnight. Things were looking quite dour for
Community fans after NBC cancelled the show; with creator Dan Harmon
released a not-so-enthusiastic statement concerning the show’s future prospects along with the Hulu
fallout, it seemed that the show had no chance for any kind of return. But alas, it is Yahoo to the rescue.“We couldn’t be more excited to work with Dan, Joel, and the entire cast, as well as Sony, to deliver a great season 6,” said Kathy Savitt, CMO of Yahoo.
“I am very pleased that
Community will be returning for its predestined sixth season on Yahoo,” said Dan Harmon in a statement. “I look forward to bringing our beloved NBC sitcom to a larger audience by moving it online. I vow to dominate our new competition. Rest easy,
Big Bang Theory. Look out, Bang Bus!”
