And your Spider-Man is… Andrew Garfield

If you were wondering what  the most googled name on the internet today will be, that would be Andrew Garfield. The relatively unknown 27 year old actor was officially named the star of Marc Webb’s Spider-Man relaunch. The director had this to say, “Though his name may be new to many, those who know this young actor’s work understand his extraordinary talents. He has a rare combination of intelligence, wit, and humanity. Mark my words, you will love Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker.”

There was tons of speculation that Josh Hutcherson was going to be cast as Peter Parker, but that’s how the movie biz goes! As a comic fan I have to say that I’m as thrilled about this relaunch as I was Superman Returns. Hopefully it turns out better. Frankly they could cast the Red Ranger as Peter Parker. The real concern with this relaunch is A) It’s unnecessary and B) The Director has only done one feature length film. Granted it’s a critical indie darling but it’s a far stretch from a summer blockbuster. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see. I’m sure the rapid comic fans will be the true judges on the relaunch.
