Could Sex-Bob-Omb Become a Real Band?

With Scott Pilgrim vs the World doomed to be an indie cult classic but the soundtrack destined to be another Juno hit. It makes me wonder if Sex-Bob-Omb — the band Scott Pilgrim plays bass for — can bridge that gap between fake band to real band. Sure there’s Spinal Tap and Eddie and the Cruisers (sort of) but what about something that’s closer to Sex-Bob-Omb… like Dethklok?

Image – Walking Dead 80 Teases More

Yesterday Image released the teaser image shown below for Walking Dead #80. You may recall the first teaser that basically hinted at nothing and showed even less. Basically it gave us the title of the storyline that is starting with issue 80 and that is “No Way Out.” Admittedly, I’m not reading the Walking Dead and could really care less about this storyline. Hold on now, before you get the pitchforks let me explain that I have every issue of Walking Dead from 1 to 55 with the exception of the 2nd issue because it was just too expensive to allow myself to buy it. That’s right back in the day you actually had to track down single issue if you wanted to read the series and that’s just what I did. But at some point the Walking Dead stopped being interesting and or good. It’s influences were always obvious but then the originality the series had slowly started to leave. Now it’s just another comic title that people keep buying because they always have. Personally it’s no better than X-Men or Batman or any of the other titles that play it safe each month to make a sales quota. But enjoy this image depicting what could be the first original idea in the book for thirty some issues.

The Last Days of American Crime – Series Review

The setting is the not so distant future and it’s only a few days before crime and cash are eliminated from the United States of America. Cash is being ended in favor of plastic, eliminating any form of illegitimate business. A simple broadcast sent out all over the country will stop anyone from doing anything they know to be unlawful. That idea alone sets up a playground of ideas, but that is not when the story takes place. The book is called the “Last Days of American Crime” and that is where the story begins just days before the broadcast goes live and cash as a currency is erased.

Morning Glories Goes to Third Print

You know what? I haven’t even read this damn thing yet and it’s already sold out again. Thanks a lot Image for printing enough copies! I looked up the first printing on EBay and the damn thing goes for at least $20 bucks. The worst part is that I’m pretty sure it was released the same week as Comic Con which was the reason I missed it. Damn you Comic Con, you taketh and giveth too much!

Image Comics is rushing to press a third printing of MORNING GLORIES #1, written by Nick Spencer and drawn by Joe Eisma with covers by Rodin Esquejo. The third printing of MORNING GLORIES #1 will be available the same day as issue #2, September 15.

Mouse Guard: Legends of the Guard #3 – Review

Mouse Guard is a series that has grown with popularity since arriving on the comic scene. It is one of those books that critics and retailers didn’t think twice about, but that fans latched onto. The word of mouth has made it one of Archaia’s biggest if not THE biggest selling title from the company. Creator/Writer/Artist David Peterson’s four issue mini-series format has become a staple in the series development and showed the industry as a whole that you don’t need to be numbered monthly to be successful. The latest series “Legends of the Guard” is a mixture of short stories set in the world of Mouse Guard.
