News coming from Boom! Studios today as Mark Waid steps down from CCO/ EIC for the company, a position he accepted in July. It’s a sad departure, but Waid will stay on writing his current ongoing titles. Hopefully he finds what he needs to continue to be creative in the world of comics and hopefully Boom! finds a new CCO/ EIC to continue their success.

It is with a heavy heart but also with great warmth and fondness that BOOM! Studios bids adieu to one of its own: effective immediately, Mark Waid is stepping down from the responsibility of Chief Creative Officer at BOOM! Studios. Waid will continue his run on IRREDEEMABLE and INCORRUPTIBLE and his brand new break-out hit collaboration with Stan Lee, THE TRAVELER.

Sales Numbers On Batman The Brave And The Bold Comics

The sales numbers are in for fan-favorite TV Series turned into a comic, Batman Brave and The Bold. Batman Brave and The Bold have opened its doors for other types of income to make the TV show more-and-more popular. From toys to clothes, those types of merchandise didn’t write the big check for Batman The Brave and The bold. Surprisingly the comic series is the greatest avenue of income and publicity for the show.

Numbers show that the newly relaunched comic title The All New Batman: The Brave and The Bold gained new readers during the November release date of its first issue. The first issue of the series had Batman and Superman teaming-up to stop theft in the Bottle city of Kandor. The appearance of Superman was probably the reason why there was an increase in readers. This new volume of Batman comics showed a greater deal of readers than the previous volume. Sales improved to nearly 40% with the final issue of the Batman: The Brave and The Bold series ending with 22 issues. Batman: The Brave and The Bold #22 hit shelves on October 27, 2010, and The All New Batman: The Brave and The Bold #1 came out on the 10th of November.

Lady Death # 0 – The 90’s Called… They Said It’s Over

Upon Boundless Comics – an Avatar Press imprint – announcement that they were bring back Lady Death, I thought “Great she’d be cool to see in our modern story focused comics.” Then I read the issue. Creator/Co-writer Brian Pulido manages to plop Lady Death back into familiar roles, but unfamiliar clothes.

The book opens in the Under Realm with a slave/demon escaping to the Living Realm. He’s on a mission to bring Lady Death a.k.a. Illadra something she’s lost. Meanwhile Illadra and a band of mercenaries are on a mission to save a town’s girl from a castle of cannibals. The band of merc’s is your typical bunch of stereotypes each having a type of weapon that they specialize in that makes them useful to the team.

Heroes For Hire # 1 – Marvel Makes Good on the Third Attempt

There are very few writing teams that manage to be consistently good. Justin Gray and Jimmy Palmiotti are one of the few that have multiple successes as a team and across many publishers, just look at their Radical Comics title Time Bomb. Well another writing team has emerged to show that everything they touch is gold and that team is Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning.

This is not the typical take on Heroes For Hire where Marvel creates a reason for certain heroes to work with a foundation or organizer to be paid for their super-heroing. Instead Misty Knight has organized random heroes to play smaller roles in a larger mission. Each “Hero” has an interest in the particular case that’s being worked which convinces them to play along.
