Batman and Robin #18 Review

After fearing the worst when Grant Morrison and Frazer Irving were replaced in Batman and Robin I thought the series was in for a major downfall, but unlike the previous issue this story was pretty interesting. It can not really compare with the previous issues written by Grant Morrison and Frazer Irving – it tries to be dark like them by substituting Doctor Hurt with Una Nemo, but fails to reach that level. It all comes down to one major thing – the Absence. If you do not like her, you will not like this issue.

Previously, Batman and Robin started to unravel the mystery of the death of an old girlfriend of Bruce Wayne’s. By the end of the issue 17, however, his girlfriend Una Nemo was found very much alive, insane, and sporting a huge bullet hole in her head.

Best Thing to Happen to Comics in 2010
Winner – Stan Lee at Boom! Studios.
His work for Marvel has been legendary creating almost half of the Marvel Universe with the time he’s been there. From Spider-Man to Hulk and to The Fantastic Four to The X-Men, Stan has had a great job at Marvel. His work at Boom! is already great as well. Reading Starborn, Soldier Zero, and The Traveler has put a smile on my face. If anything at all, I can’t wait until there is a team-up between the different series.

Morning Glories: Best New Series or Biggest Fraud?

Where do I begin with Morning Glories? The first issue sold out, the second printing sold out, the third printing sold out, the second issue sold out, the second printing for the second issue sold out, the third issue sold out and probably the fourth as well. Then there’s the comparison of “Morning Glories” and “Bad Kids Go To Hell.” So the question is, is there any validity to the claims? Well I can say yes and no.

“Bad Kids Go To Hell” is basically Breakfast Club and Scream mixed with a twist of supernatural. Five high school students at a private school are serving out a Saturday detention when they begin dying one by one, leaving the only kid that isn’t super rich alive to figure out the mystery happening at the school and the Native American burial site it sits upon.
